Operation Shoestring, located at 1711 Bailey Avenue, announces that it will hold its annual “Conversation About Community” on Thursday, September 29, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
To be held this year in the Grand Ballroom of the King Edward Hotel in Downtown Jackson, the Conversation will feature dinner, drinks, video segments highlighting the work of Operation Shoestring and the challenges facing the children and families its serves. Tickets are $50.
The evening will also include a brief discussion moderated by Donna Ladd, Editor of the Jackson Free Press. The panelists are Jim Barksdale and Dr. Glenda Glover, both Jacksonians, with knowledge of and experience in the issues facing Jackson and its residents. Mr. Barksdale is founder of the Barksdale Reading Institute. Dr. Glover is Dean of the Jackson State University Business School.
The Conversation will include important topics such as education, workforce development, building a better economy and building better schools.
As in years past, the Conversation will include jazz music and will draw a diverse gathering of people from across the Metro Jackson area.
Free, secure parking will be available on site and the dress is business attire.
